Amanda Omar has had a volleyball career that has lasted over 22 years. She started and played varsity all four years of high school and earned a full scholarship to the University of Arkansas. She transferred to Missouri State University where she finished her collegiate career, graduated with a B.S. degree, and went on to play professionally in Puerto Rico. She then obtained her Personal Training Certification through the National Academy of Sports Medicine and began working at LifeTime Fitness in Chicago, IL as a Personal Trainer and Group Fitness Instructor.
In addition to her playing career, Amanda has had an impressive coaching career. She was the Assistant Coach at McHenry County College for one season and then advanced to Head Coach for two additional seasons. She also coached the Sky High Volleyball Club 18-1 team in 2005 when they won the American Division at Nationals in Salt Lake City, Utah. Also, in 2005 Amanda obtained her certification as a Master Volleyball Instructor for Volleyball Conditioning and Performance through USA Volleyball.
In 2007, Amanda wanted to play competitively again so she traveled overseas and joined a tour for American volleyball players. There, she tried out with Bring It Promotions, an agency representing American players in Europe, and was placed on a team in Kuusamo, Finland. After playing for one season, she then became the Head Coach for that same team for that following season.
Amanda has worked with and trained hundreds of athletes with many companies to include PlyoCity, Sky High Volleyball Club, Fusion Volleyball Club, and All-American Volleyball Camps. She also owns Steel Training, a company that specializes in athletic conditioning and performance, plyometrics training, speed and agility work, private volleyball lessons, nutritional counseling, and personal training.
